Bassist Henry Grimes released his debut album, The Call, in 1965 on ESP-Disk. Featuring Perry Robinson on clarinet and a drummer named Tom Price, it is a wonderful example of how angular melodies and rhythms can still be very catchy. Until 2005, this was his only solo album. Robinson really stands out here.
